MAINTENANCE PERSON

 

The Maintenance Person is responsible for the preventive maintenance and repair of all housing, buildings, equipment and vehicles belonging to the Thunderchild Public Works Department. Focus on “preventative” maintenance of homes, buildings, grounds, equipment, safety and security of band members and staff in relation to Band Assets.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Educate Preventative Maintenance to new tenants moving into new housing units.
  • Develop a quality tenant communication system.
  • Under Management Supervision, develops, purchases, monitors material, tools and equipment inventory.
  • Participate in on going inspections.
  • Follow up and complete Work Orders.
  • Provide written reports as required.
  • Develop and implement a weekly schedule of maintenance.
  • Ensure security of buildings.
  • Ensure buildings are properly monitored for heating and ventilation control.
  • Address in a timely manner electrical, water and sewer, heating and air conditioning problems by performing minor maintenance and/or acquiring a contractor to rectify deficiencies and address more major problems.
  • Address minor carpentry needs by performing drywall repair, touch-up painting, door/window repairs.
    • Other related duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications

  • Drivers License Mandatory.
  • Experience and a demonstrated ability in building, home and vehicle maintenance and repair.
  • Ability to speak Cree.
  • Willingness and ability to respond to safety and service requests in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work flexible on weekends as required.  To do heavy lifting and carry out the demands of the job.

 

Candidates selected for an interview will be required to provide a current Criminal Records Check (CPIC).  The successful candidate will need to provide a Medical Report.
